Plum 98: Reed Lindsay

Reed Lindsay with Lolo
Wood River Valley native, Reed Lindsay, is kind of a big deal. What began as a simple semester abroad in Spain, where Reed attended Williams College, eventually turned the yong man into an interested, well-spoken journalist within the Spanish-speaking community in the Wood River Valley and abroad.

Sun Valley Suns

Sun Valley Suns
The Sun Valley Suns are back for another exciting hockey season. The 2007-2008 season kicks off on December 14th against the Park City Silver Kings. Check sunvalleysuns.com for a complete schedule and watch them hit the ice at the Sun Valley indoor rink and kick some padded butt.

Tales from a Rookie

First Time Skier in SV
There is a first time for everything. But when it comes to learning to ski, you would prefer that your first time was around age five when you were a mere two to three feet from the ground and absolutely fearless.

Some of us, however, aren’t so lucky and hail from the flat, snow-free state of Texas, moving to Sun Valley not for ski season, but for trail running and the small town perks. That someone is me, a newbie to the winter sport and outrageously terrified of all snowy hills including Dollar mountain.

Hailey Hometown Holidays Celebration

To kick off the holiday shopping season, the South Valley Merchants Alliance in conjunction with the Hailey Chamber of Commerce and the City of Hailey will light up Hailey this December 1st. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a parade of floats by local merchants and organizations led by the one and only jolly old Saint Nick. The parade will start at Zaney’s and end at Roberta McKercher Park where mayor elect, Rick Davis, will light the official holiday tree of Hailey. Then take a quick walk to the Inn at Ellsworth Estate to cozy up around the bonfire and enjoy yummy food and hot beverages. Let the holidays begin!

Want to be in the parade? Decorate your wagon, car, dog, Girl Scout, family or flatbed and win cash for the float that is the most “Hailey” the most “Hometown” or the most “Holiday.” Contact the Chamber of Commerce at 208-788-3484 or visit the Chamber to download an application.

Apres Ski: Sun Valley Favorites

Sun Valley Apres Ski
In Sun Valley we love to apres ski as much as we love to hit the slopes.  After all, it has to be five o'clock somewhere and face it, after a long day on the mountain you deserve a cocktail or two.
