
Below is a six-week schedule leading up to the Sun Valley Half-Marathon. Please understand that this schedule assumes you can run 5 miles comfortably. If you are a total beginner, we recommend starting smaller with the Girls on the Run 5k on May 17.

April 12: 6-8 miles
April 13: 30 minutes
April 14: 30 minutes
April 15: fartlek (intervals with a long run)
April 16: 35 minutes
April 17: OFF
April 18: 20-30 minutes
April 19: 8 miles
April 20: 20-30 minutes or OFF
April 21: 40 minutes
April 22: 6 hills, try running up and down a big section of Saddle
April 23: 35 minutes
April 24: OFF
April 25: 35 minutes
April 26: 10 miles
April 27: 20-30 minutes
April 28: 40 minutes
April 29: Sprints (we suggest 4 sets of 800 meters)
April 30: 20 minutes
May 1: OFF
May 2: 30-40 min
May 3: 8 miles
May 4: 20 minutes
May 5: OFF
May 6: tempo run
May 7: 40 minutes
May 8: 20-30 minutes
May 9: 40 minutes
May 10: 12 miles
May 11: 20 minutes
May 12: OFF
May 13: Hills (Saddle again)
May 14: 30 minutes
May 15: 30-40 minutes
May 16: 30 minutes
May 17: 8 miles (Girls on the Run 5k is today)
May 18: 30 minutes
May 19: OFF
May 20: Strides, Hills or Fartlek
May 21: 45 minutes
May 22: OFF
May 23: Easy 30 minutes
