$1.4 Million Raised, $100k To Go

It’s no small potatoes.

But neither is “Art for Art,” the art auction to benefit the nexStage Theatre.

“Art for Art” is the final act in a long-running drama by the Board of Trustees of the nexStage Theatre. With just $100,000 more, they will save their playhouse, thanks to the way the entire Wood River community has risen to the occasion.

Headlining the event is special guest, Dale Chihuly, world famous glass artist and longtime Ketchum visitor. Chihuly has donated one hundred signed copies of his book, “Fire” to the benefit. And Ketchum gallery owner, Dennis Ochi, has donated a large Chihuly acrylic in honor of his late wife and longtime nexStage Theatre advocate, Roberta Ochi.

In addition to works by Chihuly, pieces by artists Edie Baskin, Ian Boyden, Darren Vigil Gray, Edwin Hamilton, Michelle Morby, Gordon Stevenson, Roni Stretch and Theodore Villa will be auctioned, all of it donated by the artists or by local galleries including the Broschofsky Galleries, The Friesen Gallery, The Gail Severn Gallery, the Ochi Gallery and the Ann Reed Gallery.

While “Art for Art” features no melodramatic monologues, comedic sketches, or catchy pop tunes, it’s clear the nexStage Theatre is giving the performance of a lifetime. . . its lifetime.
