Sip on sweet champagne and steamy espresso, converse around small bistro style tables, indulge in French pastries, and witness the expatriate world of the 20th century’s literary giants.
You’ll see Idaho native Ezra Pound, Irish sensation James Joyce, love poet E.E. Cummings, and, of course, “Papa” himself, Ernest Hemingway, played by actor Bob Blumpied.
This year’s third annual Ernest Hemingway Festival, sponsored by Zions Bank, is themed Hemingway in Paris. The Sun Valley/Ketchum Chamber and Visitors Bureau chose Paris because it was one place that particularly inspired the writer. His novels, The Sun Also Rises and A Moveable Feast, include actual details of cafes and bars in Paris that he and literary giants Fitzgerald and Joyce frequented.
If you need a Parisian fix, skip the long flight across the pond and the painful euro exchange rate, and head to the nexStage Theatre for a Paris Café Soiree. Doors open at 7:45 p.m.
Who knows? You might be inspired to write the next great American novel. Or, you can just drink champagne.
