Boulder Mountain Tour Preview

The 33rd Annual Boulder Mountain Tour is this Saturday, Feb. 2. Sponsored by Wells Fargo, this exciting Nordic ski race begins at 10am just east of Galena Lodge, and finishes at the Sawtooth National Recreation Area headquarters.

According to Race Director, Kevin Swigert, this year’s race will be one of the best of the season, with the strongest and deepest men’s elite field in the BMT’s 33-year history. As of Jan. 31, 902 racers have registered for the tour. The field of racers includes the entire US Nordic Combined Team, most of the World Junior Championship Team, several racers who have just returned from the World Cup races in Canada, 4 former BMT champions and several of the top Work Loppet skiers.

This weekend’s events include the Boulder Mountain Tour Expo and bib pick-up at the Wood River YMCA on Friday. The main event takes place at 10am on Saturday, and the awards ceremony is at 6pm at the Sun Valley Inn Limelight Room. Sunday, skiers are encouraged to take advantage of the beautiful trails in the Sun Valley area. The race is sure to be action packed, so head up north on Saturday and cheer on your favorite Nordic skiers.
