Rob Rushton started his local bbq at the farmers’ markets for two reasons. He wanted to eat an unlimited amount of ribs, and he wanted to be self-employed. He fulfilled his first wish and then had his regrets; he had to lose a good 50 pounds. As for being self-employed, he’s never been happier. Before grilling and catering, Rushton had an assortment of jobs. He made French fries and even supervised coal mining.Joining him this summer is Hailey, a recent graduate from Boise State University who met Rod at a poetry slam in Boise. This is her first summer in Sun Valley. At the time of this interview she had only worked with Rod for one day, but she thinks "so far so good."
In addition to grilling at the local farmers’ markets, Rushton caters for local residents providing all natural (meaning no steroids or hormones) chicken and ribs.
Stop by your local farmers’ market, every Tuesday in Ketchum from 2:30-6pm and every Thursday in Hailey from 2:30-6pm.
