Warning! Do not go the Wood River Animal Shelter unless you want to return home with a dog or a cat (or both).
The animals are just too cute - - all 40 cats and 40 dogs.
That’s 80 animals who need a home -- make that a forever home.
The Wood River Animal Shelter, located in Hailey, offers a quality, temporary home for the area’s animals. In addition to protecting animals from neglect and abuse, the shelter also educates the public on pet overpopulation and the importance of compassion for all animal life.
To clean, feed, house and love an abundance of animals, the Wood River Animal Shelter holds a yearly benefit dinner with a live and a silent auction, and a raffle; this year’s raffle prize is a whopping $10,000 gift certificate to Atkinsons’ Market.
As always, the Wood River Valley has pulled together to help support the animal shelter. This year, artists, architects, and contractors have worked together to design and craft birdhouses that will go to the winning bidders.
Other goodies on the auction block include a week in Provence, France or a private performance by the Dear Creek String Quartet, complete with a gourmet dinner. Loving animals, you see, is all part of the culture of the Wood River Valley.
The “I need a forever Home” Wood River Animal Shelter Benefit is Tuesday, July 31st, at 6 p.m. at the new and improved Trail Creek Pavilion. For more information check out our calendar.
