Learn to Meditate in 2008

Meditation Flower
People in our Valley aren’t very good at just sitting around. Valley resident Valerie Skonie wants to help us. So she has organized Sun Valley’s first ever Winter Feast for the Soul, a 40-day interfaith communal spiritual journey, and she wants us all to try setting aside 40 calming minutes a day – to feed our souls.

At 7a.m. beginning January 15, three churches and five homes in the Wood River Valley will open their doors in welcome and support of people who want to begin or pursue a meditative practice. In addition to communal meetings, participants will be given daily inspirational quotations and journals.

Skonie says she was inspired by a quotation from Jelaluddin Rumi: “What nine months does for the embryo, forty early mornings will do for your growing awareness.”

Sun Valley’s Winter Feast for the Soul runs through February 12, 2008. To participate, contact Valeria Skonie (208-788-6373) or the Reverend John Moreland at Light on the Mountains Spiritual Center (208-727-1631).
