March Dog of the Month winner Henry
As always, March's dog of the month competition was a tough one. But in the end, little old Henry took home the title. Henry's proud mother, Alex Kuczynski, wrote Plum to give us the scoop on our newest dog of the month.
Henry is a 15 year old miniature wire-hair dachsund. His full name is Osgood Heinrich von Moritz Kuczynski Stevenson. He arrived on our doorstep permanently seven years ago when my husband's daughter left for college, and he was, well, not quite the elegant gentleman he is now. But after a few (hundred) visits to the groomers -- and some sea-salt body scrub treatments (true!) at Dog Grooming by Debbie -- and some patient training -- he has turned into the most handsome, congenial little fellow around. He likes to sniff around on the trail of foxes in the back yard, and he likes to sit in my lap, and he loves cheese. He likes hiking along the Salmon River in the Middle Fork. He hates flying, though, and we get doggie Valium from Karsten for that. Although his first mommy is now in medical school, she still loves him to death, and we share him as much as we can. He sat on my lap every afternoon when I wrote my first book, and I still feel guilty that I didn't dedicate the book to him. There are very few people I have loved as much as I love Henry. He makes me and my husband happy every moment we are with him.
Congratulations to Henry and to his proud Mom and Pop!
