Sun Valley

Samantha the Sun Valley Swan

Sun Valley has a new local character. She’s not someone you’ll find wandering the streets or sitting in the Casino before noon. She doesn’t work the slopes, the links, or the trails. In fact, she’s not even human.

Rather, she’s one of the beautiful swans in the pond at Sun Valley and the main character in a new children’s book, Samantha, written by longtime Sun Valley visitor, Marriner Eccles, and illustrated by Jill Hall.

The book is the first in a series of three about Sun Valley animals. The second, Franklin the Fox, has just been completed. As for the third, we only know it’s about a trout (Wanna’ bet $20 it starts with a T?)

All proceeds from the books go to the “Samantha Fund,” an endowment for the Children’s Library at the Community Library in Ketchum.
