A Toast to SV Center for the Arts

Nothing gets a party going like opening a magnum of champagne with a saber.

And, nothing gets people here to raise their paddles to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars like a true love for the arts.

With this year’s wine auction, the Sun Valley Center for the Arts has done it again, grossing a record 1.3 million dollars. It was a very good year. (Think $130,000 for the 2008 Lexus.)

Their plans to build a brand new state-of-the-art building on Fourth Street (across from the Ketchum Post Office) mean the Sun Valley Center for the Arts will soon be pouring even more back into the Wood River Valley - - with larger exhibits, more classes, larger lecture, etc.

Thus, the generous bidders at Friday night’s Auction were investing in more than mere luxury trips to the wine country; they invested in the arts, in Ketchum.

Cheers to one and all!
