Winter is slowly coming to an end. But thanks to a tremendous snowfall and Sun Valley Resort, we still have two full weekends of skiing and riding. But if for some silly reason you’re sick of hitting the slopes, we’ve got more then enough activities for you.
Thursday
Get spiritual at Light on the Mountains Spiritual Center’s talk “With One Voice: The Meeting Point of all Spiritual Traditions,” a documentary on inter-faith relations. Buddhist teacher and author Matthew Flickstein will lead the talk from 7-9pm. Or, you can head to Hailey for a live performance by Afro-pop singer Lura at the Liberty Theatre from 7-9:30pm. For tickets call 208-725-9491.
Friday
This Saturday is the last day for the Paul Tillotson Trio at the Duchin Room in Sun Valley. Since Saturday is jam packed with late night events, we suggest hitting up the Duchin Room right after work for one fabulous show. If you’re really smart, head out of work earlier, get on the slopes and then apres ski with the Paul Tillotson Trio; it doesn’t get much better than that.
Saturday
Bust a move at the new YMCA Triathlon Training Program. Every Saturday morning through June 14, beginner and experienced athletes can get in shape for one of the summer’s many triahlons. With a hardcore training regimen, you’ll be ready for June’s Redish Racing for Recovery in no time. Call 208-727-9622 for more details. Saturday night attend the annual Sun Valley Spring Prom. Dance the night away to live music by The Heaters at the Limelight Room. You can dress your best or put on your silliest costume for this year’s theme, “Some Like It Hot.” Tickets are $22 each or buy 5 tickets and get the 6th free. The party begins at 8pm and carries on until 1am. Party on, Sun Valley!
Sunday
It is a quiet Sunday in Sun Valley and we recommend doing what we all love the most: skiing or riding the slopes. If you have little ones with you, make sure to head to Dollar Mountain as it is the mountain’s final day of the season. Or, swing over the Seattle Ridge for a yummy lunch and beautiful corn snow as that half of Baldy will say farewell this Sunday as well.
This Weekend on Channel 13
With an extended ski season comes an extended run of Plum’s MorningNoon&Night show. As always, wake up to local weather updates from Fresh Tracks live from River Run on Friday at 8am and Saturday and Sunday at 7:30am. Then get comfy in you pajamas while you watch MNN. This Saturday we have student of the month from Hemingway Elementary Samantha Sutton as well as extreme skiers Conor Davis and North Parker. On Sunday, get the scoop on spring hiking from Bigwood Backcountry Trails front man, Chris Leman and meet the former president of NAMI, Tom Hanson.
Catch the action on film? Send your photos to Plum.
