Weird Winter Workouts

Not everyone in Sun Valley skis or snowboards, but that doesn’t mean they don’t like the snow. While there are many snow-related activities besides skiing that will whip you into post-holiday shape, there are several other activities that can get you into shape. Here are a few examples:

Shoveling Snow

Picking up a shovel and scooping up snow sounds easy, but that is not the case. When the snow gets deep enough that you have to shovel the driveway, it also gets heavy, and with those big, wide snow shovels, you take a lot at a time. After hauling loads of dense, wet snow out the driveway, you are sure to feel it the next day.

Chopping Wood

Everyone loves to have a cozy fire in the winter, but the wood won’t chop itself. Swinging a heavy axe over your head is no small feat, and then having to haul the heavy logs to the fireplace is another task in itself. It’s well worth the work when you are finished and have a warm, crackling fire.

De-Icing Your Car

Brushing off the snow is the easy part, unless your car is completely buried . Many cars get buried after a huge snowfall, and digging out the heavy snow is exhausting. Not only that, but you have to scrape the windows too, which requires some serious elbow grease. Put your back into it, and you will feel the burn.

Building a Snowman

Constructing Frosty is all fun and games, until it becomes a workout. Pushing a ball of snow around until it gets big enough to become part of your snowman is no simple task. Then having to lift and stack the giant balls of snow on top of each other can make you sweat too. Once you get the carrot and charcoal in place, however, you can simply relax and be proud.
